UKSIFUK Sustainable Investmentand Finance AssociationUnlocking GrowthThrough EnhancedSustainability DataDecember 2025INTRODUCTIONSustainability data -specifically the environmental, social, andgovernance(ESG)information that companies and assets discloseis increasingly crucial for financial markets.Investors place highimportanceon corporate climate, governance, and socialinformation, including, but not limited to,greenhouse gasemissions and physical climate risks, workforce diversity, humanrights practices, and governance structures. For many UKSIFmembers, this information is as critical to investment decisions,or sometimes even more important, than traditional financialstatements and metrics.Over the last few years, sustainability metrics have become mainstream inputs for pricing risk and valuingcompanies, and investors use these metrics on a daily basis to make informed investment decisions. This report presents the results of a survey conducted with the UK Sustainable Investment and FinanceAssociation's (UKSIF's)institutional investor members in November 2025 to gauge the investmentcommunity's experience and use of sustainability data from investee companies and wider assets.Of the20 respondents to the survey,80%are asset managers,10%are asset owners and the remainder arewealth managers that oversee client funds directly. The questions were framed openly to attract views onthe value of data from corporates, but also other asset classes. The respondents predominantly represent large global asset managers, with over half managing assetsexceeding f50bn.The combined total assets under management (AUM)of all 20 respondents isapproximately f4.5 trillion. The survey primarily asked quantitative questions, covering areas such as the usefulness of a range ofESG metrics, the quality and gaps in current corporate ESG reporting, the challenges of using ESG data, and the improvements investment industry participants would like to see. This report gives key insightsinto the current state of UK corporate sustainability reporting and data use.The full survey questions canbe found in the annex. We intend for this report to be a valuable and supportive contribution to the discussion on sustainabilitydisclosures and their role in bolstering the UK's capital markets and broader economy, particularly in thecontext of forthcoming government decisions on climate transition plans and the UK SustainabilityReporting Standards(SRS).
